Scrolls of support from the US

Australian Defence Force personnel from the Mentoring and Reconstruction Task Force at Tarin Kowt in Afghanistan recently received thousands of written messages of support from US citizens. The scrolls containing messages of support were inspired by Mr George Jackson of Denton in Maryland, USA after he read a news article about Australian Prime Minister the Hon Kevin Rudd MP visit to meet the troops serving in Afghanistan. The messages were written on three paper scolls – totaling more than 720 feet (220 metres) in length – by the residents of Denton in Maryland, USA. The members of the Task Force were able to take some time out from their daily activities to view the message scrolls.
