Army engineers inspect construction projects in Tarin Kowt

With ongoing building works in Uruzgan Province being carried out by local contractors, under the guidance of members of the 1st Mentoring and Reconstruction Task Force (MRTF-1), regular progress inspections are carried out by MRTF-1's Works Section.

Works Section is a team of seven military engineers, including two civil engineers, three construction supervisors (plumbing, plant and building), a draftsman and a surveyor. The team is responsible for supervising the design, management and contracting to local Afghan businesses for all of the reconstruction projects.

MRTF-1 is engaged in construction works and the provision of mentoring and training for the Afghan National Army in Uruzgan Province.

MRTF-1 comprises engineers, mechanised infantry and cavalry from the Darwin-based 1st Brigade, and is drawn mainly from the 7th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment, 2nd Cavalry Regiment and 1st Combat Engineer Regiment.
