Improvised Explosive Device following an incident in Kabul Province
The deadly effect of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) has become well known in Australia. For the past several years’ members of the Australian Defence Force serving in Iraq and Afghanistan have faced the threat of IEDs everyday.
Australian Defence Force personnel have played a significant role in developing ways to defeat the IED threat by studying the devices. By examining evidence remaining behind after insurgent attacks, the Counter-IED Task Force is able to develop ways of foiling future attempts targeting International Security Assistance Force soldiers and the Afghan security forces.
