Zabol Bridges

Soldiers from the Reconstruction Task Force (RTF) have deployed more than 400 kilometres through Taliban contested territory to rebuild two vital road bridges, blown up by the insurgents a few weeks ago.

NATO turned to the RTF to complete the task as none of the other units in Afghanistan were available to carry out the dual Infantry and Engineering tasks which the RTF can undertake.

The Diggers of Combat Team Dagger took their armoured column from their normal base in Tarin Kowt, more than 400 kilometres to Zabol and Ghazni Provinces, close to the border of Pakistan. They have now returned to Tarin Kowt.
