CDF visits troops in Afghanistan

Chief of the Defence Force Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston flew in to Tarin Kowt to meet Reconstruction Task Force (RTF) and Special Operations Task Group troops, as they prepare for summer operations in support of the Afghan Government and against Taliban extremists in Uruzgan Province.

The RTF carries out protected reconstruction projects in Uruzgan Province, working closely with Coalition allies, local government and contractors.

The RTF consists of approximately 400 personnel providing command, security, engineering and operational support capabilities.

It is equipped with Bushmaster Infantry Mobility Vehicles (IMV), Australian Light Armoured Vehicles (ASLAVs) and armoured engineer plant equipment.
