Mujahedin Day celebrated

The Afghan National Army in Uruzgan Province celebrated Mujahedin Day - commemorating their victory over the Soviet Union - with a parade of the two Kandaks (battalions) working alongside Australian and Coalition troops in Tarin Kowt.

Lieutenant Colonel Stuart Yeaman, Commanding Officer RTF 4, and Warrant Officer Class One, Regimental Sergeant Major Steven Di Tullio were invited to join in the celebrations by their Afghan colleagues.

The Reconstruction Task Force (RTF) carries out protected reconstruction projects in Uruzgan Province, working closely with Coalition allies, local government and contractors. Numbering about 450, the RTF has a unique ability to carry out major works such as building river crossings, schools and mosques. In addition to its construction and combat engineers, the RTF has a security task group made up of infantry and cavalry equipped with Bushmaster and Australian Light Armoured Vehicles (ASLAVs).
