Medals mark Australia Day for Kabul-based troops
A NATO medal parade was the centrepiece of 2008 Australia Day celebrations for ADF members serving on Operation SLIPPER in the Afghan capital of Kabul.
NATO campaign medals were presented to 20 Australian service men and women posted to Headquarters Joint Task Force 633-Afghanistan and Headquarters ISAF, as representatives from contributing NATO nations looked on.
The Headquarters for Task Force 633 - Afghanistan is based in Kabul, Afghanistan. The headquarters provides the National Command Element for Australian troops serving in Afghanistan as part of NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
Operation SLIPPER is the ADF contribution to the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan. Operation SLIPPER is an important component of the Australian Government's commitment to working together with the international community to help prevent acts of terrorism around the world.
