HMAS Tobruk returns to her home port of Sydney after participating in Operation Samoa Assist, where she provided humanitarian relief to the people of Samoa and Tonga affected by the September tsunami.

Navy Commander honoured by His Majesty, The King of Tonga

OP SAMOA ASSIST
On September 30 an 8.3 magnitude earthquake struck 190km south west of American Samoa, hurtling tsunami waves into the Samoan coast. The RAAF responded with the rapid loading and dispatch of a No. 36 Squadron (36SQN) C-17 Globemaster packed with supplies and personnel to assist in the humanitarian relief effort.
