Preparation and Maintenance at RAAF Base Learmonth
The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has activated its base at Learmonth, near Exmouth in Western Australia, as part of the ADF contribution to whole-of-government efforts to protect Australia’s offshore maritime areas.
In December, the ADF increased the forces assigned to Operation RESOLUTE to provide an enhanced surveillance and response capability in response to several recent incidents of unauthorised boat arrivals and illegal fishing activities in Australia’s territorial waters.
About 300 additional ADF personnel have been assigned to Operation RESOLUTE, increasing the total commitment to approximately 800 ADF personnel.
