Operation QUEENSLAND FLOOD ASSIST

An Australian Defence Force Joint Task Force of boats, ground vehicles and personnel continues to assist with clean-up and recovery requirements in several areas of Queensland. 

The Joint Task Force has commenced a reduction in personnel and equipment provided to the relief effort as the situation on the ground continues to improve. The Joint Task Force Headquarters will be disestablished in early February 2011, at which time ongoing assistance will be provided by an Engineer Task Group.

Defence continues to operate closely with, and in support of, Queensland Emergency Services. ADF task priorities continue to be set by local authorities and support to Queensland Government.

While the ADF continues to commit resources to the Queensland reconstruction effort, its capacity to maintain existing operational commitments throughout the world, or meet other unforeseen events, has not been diminished.
