Khawr al Amaya Oil Terminal
Thirty-one Australian sailors, 10,000 kilometres away from home, work and live 10 metres above the Persian Gulf aboard Iraq’s Khawr al Amaya Oil Terminal (KAAOT), home to the headquarters of Task Force 158 (TF158). Force protection of the KAAOT is provided by the Iraqi Marines, mentored by the Royal British Navy and US Marines, as directed through TF158. The role of TF158 consists mainly of controlling the naval assets, training and providing logistic support.
