Last Combat troops leave Iraq
The last combat soldiers from Overwatch Battle Group (West) 4 have now departed Southern Iraq, ending the three year Australian mission in Al Muthanna and Dhi Qar provinces.
Soldiers from the Head Quarters of the Battle Group departed Tallil on Royal Australian Air Force C-130 aircraft.
The diggers will stage through Australia’s Force Level Logistic Asset in the Middle East where they conduct a range of administrative checks prior to returning to Australia.
Overwatch Battle Group (West) 4 and Australian Army Training Team – Iraq IX troops will be honoured with a parade in Brisbane on 28th June 2008.
