Romanian range shoot for Overwatch Battle Group
Soldiers of the Overwatch Battle Group (West)-3 recently had the opportunity to fire Russian weapons when invited to participate in a range shoot conducted by the Romanian Army.
Some 25 Australian soldiers from Combat Team Tiger made the trip to Bardia Battle Space, in Dhi Qar province, on 16th July, to participate in the range activity.
The Australian soldiers said the range activity hosted by the Romanians was a golden opportunity to fire Russian manufactured weapons they had seen so many times in war movies.
Approximately 515 personnel, drawn mostly from Darwin's 1st Brigade, make up the Overwatch Battle Group (West) - Three (OBG(W)-3).
The Battle group is helping the Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) and Provincial Governments build a secure and stable Iraq.
OBG(W)-3 operates in the Al Muthanna and Dhi Qar provinces as part of the Multi National Force - Iraq (MNF-I)
