For the second time, Australian Naval Personnel command Coalition efforts in the Persian Gulf. As part of Australia’s Naval contribution to the ongoing rebuilding of Iraq, Commodore Peter Lockwood and his staff of twenty one Naval Officers and specialist sailors have taken charge of Task Force 158.

This Task Force is responsible for maritime security operations in the Persian Gulf waters, particularly protecting Iraq’s oil terminals. These terminals are vital for the economic rebuilding of that country.

The Task Force is made up of a fleet of Coalition Vessels including HMAS Ballarat. Australian Naval contributions to the Gulf have been an ongoing commitment since 1991.
