Last of AMTG1 Troops Return Home From Iraq

The Chief of the Australian Army, Lieutenant General Peter Leahy with the Commander of the 1st Brigade, Brigadier John Cantwell, welcomed home the last of the final group of soldiers from the original Al Muthanna Task Group (AMTG1) at Darwin International Airport, along with families eagerly awaiting their return.

The soldiers are from the fourth AMTG1 group to return recently after serving six months in Iraq. They have now been fully replaced by the second Task Group, AMTG2.

General Leahy welcomed home the troops who included the Commanding Officer of AMTG1, Lieutenant Roger noble. General Leahy presented a message on behalf of the Governor General of Australia, Major-General Michael Jeffery.
