Australian Soldiers deployed to Basrah, Iraq

A small group of Australians are marking a large difference in the coalition's efforts in Iraq.

Under the command of Colonel Andrew Nikolic, the 14 Australians deployed to Basrah work within the multi-national division in Iraqs south east.

The Headquarters is run by the British Forces but has input by eight other coalition partners, including Australia.

The Headquarters within Basrah are in control of four main areas within Iraqs south east- Basrah, Maysan, Dhi-Qar and Al Muthanna.

Australia has contributed over 470 Australian personnel to the Al Muthanna region as part of the Al Muthanna Task Group (AMTG).
