2005 Northern Territory elections at Camp Smitty
Participation in democracy was not to be denied for the Northern Territory residents of the Al Muthanna Task Group that are currently deployed to Iraq.
Postal ballots from the Northern Territory Electoral Commission arrived in time for election day to allow a large number of Army personnel to cast their vote in the election.
Distance and time would not defeat these people from participating in the election.
Following the rules set down by the Electoral Commission, the votes were officially received in and packaged up for a quick flight back to Australia to be included in the count.
