Al Muthanna task group patrolling an area surrounding the south-western regional centre of As Samawah
Australian soldiers of the Al Muthanna Task Group have completed a month of intensive patrolling in an area surrounding the south-western regional centre of As Samawah.
The evening patrols have brought the soldiers into constant contact with the locals who avoid the heat of the day to come out and greet the new neighbours.
The soldiers from Combat Team Tiger use the meetings to understand more about the culture of the people from Al Muthanna and to explain their role in the region.
With security a constant concern in other provinces, the soldiers and locals are thankful that this region is also known as the peaceful province.
