Al Muthanna Task Group (AMTG) patrolling near the town of As Samawah

Soldiers of Combat Team Tiger (CT Tiger) of the Al Muthanna Task Group (AMTG) are now patrolling near the town of As Samawah in the province of Al Muthanna, southern Iraq.

The AMTG soldiers take every opportunity to meet and talk to the local people, many of whom welcome the Australians.

The presence of the Australians, and their good relations with the local people, assists the combat team maintain security for the people of the province and for the Australian and British troops based in Camp Smitty.

The AMTG's mission is to provide security and support for the Japanese Iraq Reconstruction and Support Group and the Australian Army Training Team - Iraq, which will train parts of the Iraqi Army.
