Australian Joint Task Force Headquarters in Iraq
Australian Joint Task Force Headquarters is comprised of ADF maritime, land and air elements deployed within the Middle East. The headquarters is currently commanded by Air Commodore Greg Evans who is responsible for Operation CATALYST.
Operation CATALYST is the Australian Government's contribution to the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Iraq. Operation CATALYST commenced on 16 July 2003 to follow Operation Falconer.
Working with the Interim Iraqi Government, the Australian Defence Force continues to assist coalition efforts to develop a secure and stable environment in Iraq while assisting national recovery programs Operation CATALYST currently comprises approximately 920 personnel, (which will rise to approximately 1370 once the new Task Group deploys in late April 2005).
