Suai Church memorial service
A memorial service was recently held to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Suai Church massacre, which occurred at Suai in the Cova Lima District of East Timor, on the 6th September 1999.
Almost three thousand people attended the moving service to commemorate the loss of more than 200 lives.
The Prime Minister of East Timor and other East Timorese Government officials attended the ceremony.Other invited dignitaries included the Australian and New Zealand Ambassadors to East Timor, as well as both the Commander and Deputy Commander of the International Stabilisation Force.
As part of the commemorative service, wreaths were laid in memory and several guests addressed the attendees at the service.
