East Timor celebrates the 34th anniversary of Falintil Day
East Timorese Defence Force personnel were on parade on 20th August to celebrate the 34th anniversary of Falintil Day.
It was the first time the event had been hosted by the East Timor Defence Force (F-FDTL), and was an impressive display; a large parade of soldiers and recruits were inspected by East Timor President, His Excellency Jose Ramos Horta, and addressed by Commander of the F-FDTL Brigadier General Taur Matan Ruak.
Members of the F-FDTL and East Timor National Police were presented with meritorious service medals by President Horta and Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao.
Australian Defence Force personnel from the International Stabilisation Force and Defence Cooperation Program attended the ceremony to show their support for the occasion.
