Long Tan Day in East Timor
Timor-Leste Battle Group VI (TLBG VI) commemorated Long Tan Day in East Timor with a number of services.
Vietnam Veterans John Gosling and Keith Higgins climbed Mt Matabean with TLBG VI members and members of the F-FDTL (East Timor Defence Force) and a dawn service was held on the side of Mt Matabean, one of East Timor’s highest peaks.
The veterans also attended a service held at Camp Phoenix in Dili in the afternoon.
There is a family connection. The fathers of officers CAPT Nick Hodda and MAJ Dan Gosling, currently serving in TLBG VI, served together in the same company in Vietnam.
