ADF members conduct mass casualty exercise in Timor

Members of the International Stabilisation Force (ISF) in East Timor, were put through a few different paces recently when they participated in a mass-casualty exercise, run by Timor-Leste Battle Group VI.

Playing out a vehicle accident scenario, members of the Battle Group tested the responses of a number of ISF resources. Included were soldier first aid, field communications, aero-medical evacuation and medical procedures, investigative processes and vehicle recovery actions.

Set on a secluded road more than two hour out of the city of Dili, the exercise allowed members from the Joint Task Force Headquarters, the Battle Group and the ISF Medical Facility to test their procedures in the event of a real-time scenario.

The exercise was the culmination of several other training activities for the Battle Group in recent weeks since their arrival in–country in June.

The outcomes from the exercise were discussed in a de-briefing activity the next day to ensure all areas involved are well prepared in the event of a real-time scenario.
