Leadership Tour of Gleno

Commander of the International Stabilisation Force (ISF) in East Timor, Brigadier Bill Sowry, hosted a tour of Forward Operating Bases (FOB’s) for key leaders in the East Timor security sector, including Secretary of State for Defence Julio Tomas Pinto, as well as members from the Attaché community and the East Timor Police Development Program.

The CISF and his guests visited East Timorese CDF, Brigadier Taur Matan Ruak at the new F-FDTL border posts in the western districts at Tilomar and Tonobibi, before heading to Gleno and Baucau by Blackhawk. The group also visited soldiers on the Junior Leaders Course outside Baucau.

The visit gave Brigadier Sowry the opportunity to tour the new F-FDTL border posts, as well as to provide some insight to his guests regarding the operation and layout of ISF FOB’s.

Another outcome of the visit was the chance to discuss training opportunities for the ISF in East Timor in the future.
