Australia Day celebrations in East Timor
Slap-happy - Personnel serving with the International Stabilisation Force in East Timor are gearing up for Australia Day celebrations. Thong throwing, frog racing, cricket, tug o' war, iron man and meat pies are all on the agenda for Australia Day. Competing with their mates will help the deployed personnel feel like they're at home on the nation's birthday.
About 800 Australian and New Zealand soldiers serve in East Timor at the request of the Government of East Timor to support security and stability in the country.
