Operation Astute visit by Timor President Jose Ramos-Horta

President of East Timor, Jose Ramos-Horta took time out of his tour of the western districts of East Timor to visit the 5th Battalion's Royal Australian Regiment Charlie Company, currently based at the International Stabilisation Force's Forward Operating Base at Bacau, which is part of East Timor's Battle Group 5.

Officer Commanding Charlie Company, Major Paul Greive provided President Horta with a familiarisation of the Bacau FOB, with Commander ISF BRIG Mark Holmes MVO. The tour included a comprehensive brief on Charlie Company's operations throughout the western districts of East Timor before taking a tour of the Bacau FOB on site facilities.

President Horta completed his tour of the FOB outlining how appreciative and grateful the East Timorese people have been for the service provided by the men and women of the Australian Defence Force who have served in East Timor since 1999.
