Memorial Service for Ziggy the military dog
Recently Australian Army Chaplain John Sanderson assisted by New Zealand Army Chaplain Hylton Froggatt conducted a simple service at the headquarters of the International Stabilisation Force in East Timor for the interment of Military Working Dog Ziggy's ashes.
Ziggy had died suddenly in his kennel and is a great loss to the Military Working Dog team and in particular his Handler Corporal Dean Jennings.
The Military Working Dog Fly Away Team is stationed in East Timor as an operational asset to assist with patrolling, tracking and apprehension duties when required in support of the infantry.
A very strong bond develops between handler and dog. In this case Corporal Dean Jennings and Ziggy had trained and worked together for 15 months.
