Patrol in East Timor
Darwin based personnel as members of the International Stabilisation Force conduct regular mechanised patrols across East Timor. Patolling involves talking to local government officials and residents to gain information about local needs and any security issues. It also involves route reconaissance including checking on the state of roads and bridges.
Armoured personnel carriers are often used for three to five day patrols as they are an all terrain vehicle, and provide excellent communications in remote areas.
