Bishop of Dili visits NZ Army base
By invitation from the International Stabilisation Force (ISF), the Bishop of Dili, Ricardo da Silva made a special visit to Dili’s New Zealand Army base, Kiwi Lines. The invitation was to thank the Bishop for the use of church property over the past two and a half years.
The New Zealand Infantry will vacate an old property on the Dili waterfront that they have occupied since May 2006. The land is owned by the Diocese of Dili. As a symbol of respect, the Bishop was given a traditional Maori welcome and was invited to meet the current infantry who will move into an Australian base.
