Anzac Battle Group's operational movers

The movement of personnel deploying to Operation ASTUTE is coordinated with great precision by two groups involved in the process. These are the Coalition Movement Coordination Centre (CMCC) and the ANZAC Battle Group Operational Movers.

Together they are responsible for the movement of around 300 soldiers per month. This includes travel in and out of East Timor for rotations, and mid deployment leave. They are making sure our soldiers and their equipment can travel safely. They operate from Dili’s Nicolas Lobato International Airport and conduct their daily business as part of the larger airport team managed by the local Timorese authorities who provide all the mandatory airport support, such as customs, quarantine, immigration and aircraft handling services. This team approach has proven to work very effectively.

Operation ASTUTE is the Australian Government's response to a request from the Government of Timor-Leste to assist in restoring peace to their country.

The Australian Defence Force (ADF) has deployed to Timor-Leste with a mission to assist the Government and the United Nations to bring stability, security and confidence to the Timorese to allow them to resolve their differences democratically and peacefully.

There are approximately 1100 ADF personnel currently serving in Timor-Leste. This force will remain in Timor-Leste continuing to provide a robust response capability to support the Government of Timor-Leste and the United Nations Police force.
