Force Information Support Team

The Force Information Support Team (FIST) has been busy producing distributing pamphlets to keep Timorese citizens up to date with changes in their country. The FIST produces high quality product in English and Tetum and distributes it widely throughout the country.

Operation ASTUTE is the Australian Government's response to assist the Government of Timor Leste. The Australian Defence Force (ADF) is working with the New Zealand Defence Force to assist the Government of Timor Leste to bring security, peace and confidence to its people. There are currently about 1000 ADF personnel in Timor-Leste.

The ADF's mission is to assist the Government of Timor Leste and the United Nations to maintain stability and provide a secure environment to enable the Timorese people resolve their differences peacefully.

International police including Australian Federal Police (AFP), Malaysian Police, New Zealand Police and the Guardia Nacionale Republicana (GNR) from Portugal, provide security in Dili.

The ADF provides support to these police operations as required.
