Op Anode Hells Point Patrol

Members of the Combined Task Force 635 (CTF 635) conducted a joint patrol with a member of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in an area named Hells Point located to the East of Honiara International Airport.

Hells Point was once used as an ammunition dump during World War II and the area is still littered with unexploded ordinance. The area is patrolled and guarded by the RSIPF and CTF in order to stop locals from entering the site.

The explosives remaining in much of the ordinance is valuable to local fisherman for its use in fishing and many people have been injured trying to extract the explosive from the unexploded ordinance.
