Uplifting time for bosses in Solomons

Employers with Exercise Boss Lift had the opportunity to stay in the forward operating bases of their Reservist employees, getting a taste of life as a member Operation ANODE in the Solomon Islands.

Sleeping out with the soldiers overnight, the employers were picked up and taken on a Tour to the Rove Prison Base before moving to Maritime Headquarters in Downtown Honiara for lunch.

The group then travelled to Red beach, the site of the American landings on Guadalcanal in 1942, to witness a demonstration of equipment and fire arms currently used by soldiers in the Australian Army. Under close supervision, the employers were able to try the weapons, firing at the range set up for personnel with RAMSI.

Exercise Boss Lift from the 8-13 of November is giving employers of Army Reservists serving in the Solomon Islands, a chance to see and experience the work that is being performed with Operation ANODE, the Australian Defence Force (ADF) contribution to the Australian-led Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI).

RAMSI's assistance is known as Operation HELPEM FREN (Pidgin English for 'Helping Friend'). RAMSI's mission is to assist the Solomon Islands' Government in restoring law and order.
