Patrol in Tetere, near Honiara

At Maritime Headquarters in downtown Honiara or in remote villages, Australian Army Reserve personnel are continuing to provide security for the international participating Police Force and build trust in the communities.

Soldiers of the 5th/6th Battalion Royal Victoria Regiment are on patrol in the village of Tetere and the surrounding Palm Oil Plantations, providing reassurance for the local people, even through heavy tropical storms.

Signal personnel from the 108th Signal Squadron at Maritime Headquarters provide a military presence in the capital and offers communication support to both Police and the Army, making sure they are kept aware of activity and able to respond accordingly.

Operation ANODE is the name of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) contribution to the Australian-led Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI). RAMSI's assistance is known as Operation HELPEM FREN (Pidgin English for 'Helping Friend'). RAMSI's mission is to assist the Solomon Islands' Government in restoring law and order.
