50 personnel from the 1st Command Support Regiment return to Darwin

On the 04 August 2004 around 50 personnel from the 1st Command Support Regiment returned to Darwin after a five-month tour of duty in the Solomon Islands. The soldiers were part of Operation ANODE, the Australian Government's military contribution to the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI).

The role of the regiment was to provide communications and information systems support to not only the military component of RAMSI but also to support the participating police force.

Although this is a significant return of personnel from the Solomon's, 1st Brigade will still have members from 1st Combat Engineer Regiment, 1st Command Support Regiment and the 1st Combat Service Support Battalion in the Solomon's as part of a Force Extraction Team (FET). The FET will ensure that all vehicles and equipment returning to Australia comply fully with the requirements of the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQUIS). These personnel are expected to have completed their tasks by the end of August, when they will also return to Darwin.
