The ADF and US forces are committed to operating in an environmentally responsible manner.

For all aspects of the exercise, extensive consultation takes place between the ADF, US Forces and Australian government environmental agencies to identify and minimise potential environmental impacts through the development of the TALISMAN SABRE 2011 Environmental Management Plan (EMP).The strictest environmental standards will be observed throughout Exercise TALISMAN SABRE 2011.

AECOM Australia Pty Ltd, an international consultancy agency, has been commissioned by the ADF to assist in advising on the environmental management aspect of this exercise.

A Public Environment Report has been developed as part of an environmental impact assessment process. The report identifies potential environmental issues associated with the conduct of the exercise and documents strategies used to ensure these impacts are minimised. Environmental risk reduction is inherent to all stages of the planning, management and conduct of military activities.
