US Air Force Hercules at Talisman Saber 09
A detachment of three C-130’s from 71st Rescue Squadron have been deployed to RAAF Base Richmond for the duration of Exercise Talisman Saber 09. These aircraft are specially modified ‘Combat Search and Rescue’ variants of the Hercules for recovery of personnel from the battlefield and have the ability to conduct air-to-air refuelling with compatible helicopters in flight.
