RIMPAC RAN Band performs on USS Cleveland and USS Bonhomme Richard

Musicians of the Royal Australian Navy Band are currently aboard the US Wasp Class amphibious assault ship (LHD 6) the USS Bonhomme Richard, for a short period to provide entertainment for the crew and small contingent of international personnel currently embarked. The band will play a total of three concerts in their time aboard, and have recently played to Australian and international forces aboard the USS Cleveland, HMAS Kanimbla and at a number of venues on Hawaii. The USS Bonhomme Richard is operating in company with the USS Cleveland and HMAS Kanimbla off the coast of Hawaii as part of the Exercise RIMPAC 2010 sea phase.

The Australian Defence Force’s largest international maritime exercise, Exercise Rim-of-the-Pacific (RIMPAC) 2010 has commenced in Hawaii. RIMPAC is designed to test interoperability with 14 Pacific Rim nations.
Approximately 1200 ADF personnel will be participating. This year marks the 22nd RIMPAC. It will be hosted by the US Third Fleet over a five week period, finishing on the 1st August 2010.
