C-17 prepping for deployment to Hawaii

Elements of the Royal Australian Navy and Royal Australian Air Force will be participating in the biennial Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise in Hawaii. RIMPAC is the largest maritime exercise in the world, marking its 21st iteration in 2008. RIMPAC 08 is comprised of force elements from Australia, Canada, Chile, Netherlands, Japan, Peru, Singapore, Republic of Korea, United Kingdom and the United States of America. A total of 35 surface vessels including a US carrier battle group, six submarines, more than 100 aircraft, and 20,000 personnel will represent the 10 participating Pacific Rim countries.
