PACIFIC PARTNERSHIP
06 August 2010 Medical, Dental and Engineering teams from United States Naval Ship Mercy participate in a disaster relief exercise in the Banda Islands during Pacific Partnership 2010. The PP10 visit to Indonesia is a two-phase disaster relief exercise which commenced in Jakarta in November 2009. A table-top exercise scenario dealing with a natural disaster in the region was the first phase during which the multi-national team discussed plans to effectively employ USNS Mercy, Indonesian Navy Ship KRI Dr. Soeharso and other ships from the international community, including HMA Ships Labuan and Tarakan. The PP10 mission marks the fifth year of Australian support, and will provide engineering and medical assistance in Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, East Timor and Papua New Guinea. |
