30 July 2010 As the sun sets over Darwin, members of No. 13 Squadron barrier crew check the airfield arrestor systems prior to the next wave of military aircraft landings. The F/A-18 Hornets operating from RAAF Darwin, RAAF Williamtown and RAAF Tindal use the arrestor cable, similar to that on aircraft carriers, as an emergency stopping system. |
