Pitch Black 2010

Australian, Thai and Singaporean Air Forces Combine

Pilots from the participating nations of Australia and Thailand were invited to view the Republic of Singapore Air Force F-16s at RAAF Darwin, NT for a familiarisation visit during Exercise Pitch Black. The Australian F/A-18 Hornet pilots from RAAF Base Williamtown, NSW will fly alongside the Royal Thailand and Republic of Singapore Air Force's F-16s during 'blue' air missions against the 'red' air or enemy forces based at RAAF Tindal, NT during the three-week long exercise that commenced on 16 July.

The interoperability of dissimilar aircraft provides a higher level of air combat complexity to test aircrew in realistic 'war-like' scenarios. Exercise Pitch Black aims to enhance the co-operation and interoperability between the Australian Defence Force and participating nations.

2010 marks the 20th Anniversary of the Republic of Singapore Air Force's participation in Exercise Pitch Black.
