12 F/A 18 Hornet aircraft from the US Navy's VFA-97 'Warhawks' Squadron arrive at RAAF Base Tindal, near Katherine in the Northern Territory, to participate in Exercise Pitch Black 2008.
The Squadron, based at Naval Air Station Lemoore in California, deploy as part of Marine Air Group Twelve (MAG 12) in Iwakuni, Japan.
The deployment to Pitch Black is led by the Commanding Officer, Commander Russell McCormack, USN.
The aircraft and crews, along with maintenance personnel, will be based at RAAF Base Tindal for the duration of the exercise.
