Bersama Padu 2010
28 October 2010 Forces from Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia and the United Kingdom have joined together under the Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA) to participate in Exercise Bersama Padu (BP10). The aim of BP10 is to exercise force elements from maritime, land and air forces from member nations of the FPDA to enhance interoperability among assigned forces. The exercise is hosted by the Malaysian Defence Force and staged from Royal Malaysian Air Force Base Butterworth. BP10 is taking place in the South China Sea and on the Malaysian Peninsula from 11-29 October. HMA Ships Success, Tobruk, Toowoomba, and Arunta; Australian Clearance Dive Team One from HMAS Waterhen Sydney; eight F/A 18s from No 3 Squadron RAAF Williamtown NSW; an Australian Army platoon from RMAF Butterworth; and approximately 60 support staff are participating in the exercise. BP10 represents almost 40 years of cooperation between the member nations. Training in exercises such as BP10 is important for ADF personnel to hone key skills, work as a combined force and build regional relationships with participating nations.
