Bersama Padu 2010
11 October 2010 Forces from Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia and the United Kingdom have joined together under the Five Power Defence Arrangement (FPDA) to participate in Exercise Bersama Padu (BP10). The aim of BP10 is to exercise force elements from maritime, land and air forces from member nations of the FDPA, in the defence of the Malaysian Peninsula and Singapore in order to enhance interoperability among assigned forces. The exercise is hosted by the Royal Malaysian Armed Forces (RMAF) and staged from RMAF Base Butterworth. BP10 is taking place in the South China Sea and on the Malaysian Peninsula from 11 October until 29 October. Eight F/A-18 Hornets and about 125 personnel from RAAF Williamtown's No 3 Squadron are taking part in the FPDA exercise, which represents almost 40 years of co-operation between the member nations. Training in exercises such as BP10 is important for Air Force personnel to hone key skills, work as a combined force and build regional relationships with participating nations. |
