The ADF and the NZDF worked together to conduct Operation Render Safe activities in Rabaul, Papua New Guinea in 2011, demonstrating our shared commitment to the region.

More than 150 personnel from the ADF, NZDF and Papua New Guinea Defence Force identified, assessed and rendered safe a variety of unexploded World War Two

The operation also cleared unexploded ordnance from the Kokoda Track.

Operation Render Safe activities involve close cooperation between governments and the ADF.

The Australian Government routinely consults with our regional and international partners concerning the continuing Defence support to Operation Render Safe.

In 2009, Operation Render Safe provided explosive ordnance disposal assistance to the Solomon Islands.

Operation Render Safe is a biennial activity, numbers of personnel involved vary from year to year.
