OP Anode Remembrance Day Ceremony

Members of CTF 635, the Participating Police Force, and others attached to the RAMSI mission in the Solomon Islands paused briefly on 11 November to reflect on Remembrance Day.

Civilians from Australia on Boss Lift were also in attendance.

A small military service was held featuring prayers, poems and the laying of wreaths to commemorate the sacrifice of the thousands of men and women who died in the Great War and subsequent conflicts.

Flanders Fields was read by the Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Paul Landford followed by a bugler playing The last Post and then a minutes silence.

Two wreaths were shared and laid by the contingent commanders, Lieutenant Colonel Landford on behalf of the Australian Defence Force; Major Rowe on behalf of the New Zealand Defence Force; Major Tuita on behalf of Tonga Defence; and Captain Misel on behalf of the Papua New Guinea Defence Force.

RAMSI’s mission is to assist the Solomon Islands Government in the maintenance of security, law and justice, economic governance and improving the machinery of government.
