Rotation 21 (5 Brigade) begins journey home from Solomon Islands

After 4 months of service in the Solomon Islands, members of 5 Brigade (New South Wales) prepare to depart for home.

Designated Rotation 21, the 110 strong Reservist contingent has been on deployment in the Solomon Islands since March in support of Operation ANODE, the Australian Defence Force (ADF) contribution to the Australian led Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI).

Rotation 21 is replaced by Rotation 22, 4 Brigade (Victoria), who began arriving in the Solomon Islands in July. The official handover of duties was formalized at a welcome parade at RAMSI Headquarters where Tongan Defence Service soldiers performed a “Challenge Song” to welcome the new Reservist contingent.

Members of outgoing Rotation 21 received an Australian Service Medal (ASM) in recognition for their service in the Solomon Islands at a medal ceremony held at RAMSI Headquarters prior to their departure from the Solomon Islands.
