AusAID deployment to Op Pakistan Assist
The Australian government, through AusAID and with the support of the Australian Defence Force, is providing emergency humanitarian assistance to the people of Pakistan in response to the devastating flood.
A fourth C-17 flight, carrying the first civilian medical team, has left RAAF Base Amberley delivering food, clean water, health services, shelter and coordination as part of a whole of government relief package at the invitation of the government of Pakistan.
The joint AusAid and Australian Defence Force Medical Taskforce is focused on preventing a second wave of death and disease. The civilian team includes doctors, nurses, paramedics and support personnel and will be working with Australian Defence force counterparts who are already in Pakistan setting up a facility.
Aus AID is deploying through Emergency Management Australia under the government’s AusASSISTPLAN.
